Ekaterina-Smaragda (1720–1761) war die jüngste Tochter aus ihrer Ehe mit Anastasia Ivanovna Trubetskaya, einer berühmten Schönheit ihrer Zeit und Ehefrau (ab 6. November 1751) von Dmitri Mikhailovich Golicyn. 1757 eröffnete sie in Paris einen eleganten Salon, den sie bis zu ihrem Tod führte. Da sie selbst unfruchtbar war, war sie eine der Begründerinnen der Geburtshilfe in Russland. Zum Gedenken an seine geliebte Frau, die er um 30 Jahre überlebte, vermachte Dmitri Michailowitsch den Bau des Golizyn-Krankenhauses, in dessen Foyer lange Zeit ein großes Porträt von ihr von Van Loo hing.
